Felipe Araya

Felipe was born in Santiago, Chile in the autumn of 1978. At the age of 14, he bought with his own effort (and parents helps) his first drums. When he was 17, he incorporated to play with Lapageria, a music project with Alvaro Gutierrez, starting a fraternal musical friendship. In 2000, they recorded together the EP “Mamotreto Matahuacha” with Duodeno, a bass-drums instrumental duo with Alvaro. Also, he founded the Borbotones Blues Band. In 2003, he studied jazz percussions with Alejandro Espinosa, he collaborated also in the Ensamble Jazz (from Puerto Montt, Chile) and with the saxophonist Guido Ruiz. In 2007, he started a free-improvisation project with Alvaro Morgan. He currently lives in Barcelona (Spain) where he is playing in a jazz project of free improvisation with Regis Cottereau (Double Bass).
